 ANOTHER INITIAL PUBLIC OFFERING MEETING WAS HELD IN KOCAELI

“Public Offering Campaign Kocaeli Meeting” was held at Kocaeli Chamber of Commerce on September 24 [24.09.2010]
In the framework of the cooperation protocol signed by and between the Capital Markets Board (CMB), Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) and Union of Capital Market Intermediary Institutions of Turkey (TSPAKB), a meeting was held on September 24, 2010 in Kocaeli as part of the “Public Offering Campaign" meetings that are organized in various cities for the purpose of providing information to, and developing awareness in, companies with regards to funding and financing via initial public offering. During the "Public Offering Campaign Meeting in Kocaeli” held on September 24, Friday and hosted by Kocaeli Chamber of Industry, representatives of CMB and ISE met with the executives of the companies operating in the region and registered with Kocaeli Chamber of Industry, Kocaeli Chamber of Commerce, Körfez Chamber of Commerce and Gebze Chamber of Commerce.

 

The keynote speeches of the meeting were delivered by Mr. Ayhan ZEYTİNOĞLU, Chairman of Kocaeli Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Hüseyin ERKAN, Chairman and CEO of Istanbul Stock Exchange, and Mr. Vedat AKGİRAY, Chairman of the Capital Markets Board. 

 

The meeting was succeeded by a session entitled “Initial Public Offering and Being Listed on the  Exchange”.  The session was chaired by Mr. Hasan Tahsin TUĞRUL, Chairman of the Council of Kocaeli Chamber of Industry. During the session, Mr. Bekir Sıtkı ŞAFAK, Vice-chairman of the Capital Markets Board, Mr. Esin  AKBULUT Vice-chairman of Istanbul Stock Exchange, and Berra KILIÇ,, General Manager of Turkish Yatırım A.Ş. delivered informative speeches.

 

After the panel discussion, the ISE delegation visited the production facilities of some companies in Kocaeli, and held face-to-face meetings with senior executives.  Views of the industrialists and businessmen in Kocaeli with regards to funding via initial public offering were heard, and efforts were used to address concerns and lack of knowledge about public offering and trading of stocks on the ISE.

 

Having gathered together representatives of chambers of industry and commerce Turkey-wide and announced the public offering campaign in October last year, CMB and ISE continues to reach out to Anatolian companies with the Kocaeli meeting which succeeded the Public Offering Campaign Istanbul Summit held in May and the meeting held in Samsun in June.
