Capital Market Institutions - TOBB Cooperation Protocol

A cooperation protocol was signed on 07.08.2008 between Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE), Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), Capital Markets Board (CMB) and Union of Capital Market Intermediary Institutions of Turkey (TSPAKB) to contribute to the utilization of capital market capabilities by companies through the promotion of public offerings. 

Informative Meeting for Chairmen of Chambers of Industry and Commerce

A “Capital Market Institutions – TOBB Cooperation Meeting" was organized on 19.10.2009 under the Capital Market Institutions – TOBB Cooperation Protocol with the participation of representatives from 33 chambers of the cities/counties having 5 or more companies that are included in ISO 1st 500 and 2nd 500 list but are not yet listed on the ISE. At that meeting, information was provided about the studies initiated to enable much effective and broader utilization of the capital market opportunities by our companies, and the support expected of the chambers in the scope of activities aimed at encouraging public offering was pronounced. In addition, chambers were asked to set up support units in their organizations, which are expected to serve as a “communication bridge” between the ISE and the companies that consider going public.

Personnel Training for Support Units to be Formed at Chambers of Industry and Commerce

53 personnel members serving at the “service units” formed within 28 Chambers of Commerce and Industry operating in various cities were delivered training on February 22-23, 2010. Furthermore, the support unit personnel were provided with printed publications and CDs relating to public offering to be circulated to the companies registered with their chambers.

IPO Istanbul Summit

IPO Istanbul Summit will be held between 6 – 7 May, 2010 in Istanbul in the framework of the public offering campaign started under the cooperation protocol with the participation of companies that are not listed on the ISE. Chief executive officers and senior executives of the leading companies of our country and of approximately 2000 companies that are registered with CMB but are not listed on the ISE are planned to be invited to the summit. Additionally, institutions that take part in public offerings, such as brokerage houses that are authorized to intermediate to public offerings, independent audit companies, law firms, private equity funds, domestic and foreign corporate investors, advisory companies and sectoral associations, will be invited to the take active part in the summit through opening stands, organizing workshops and holding one-to-one meetings with companies. 

Public Offering Seminars and Company Visits

Aside from IPO Istanbul Summit, there are plans to organize "Public Offering Seminars” in cooperation with chambers of industry and commerce in various cities. Companies with a high potential to benefit from capital market capabilities will also continue to be visited. Accordingly, the first visits and seminars have been organized n Gaziantep, Konya and Kayseri.

Anatolian Companies Publicity Platforms to be Set Up in Cities for which City Indices are Calculated

For the purpose of improving the investor’s interest in the companies of their own cities and in the capital market, and encouraging the companies having the potential to go public, it is planned to set up Anatolian Companies Publicity Platforms in the cities for which city indices are calculated at settings and rooms accessible to wide segments, such as Shopping Centers or town squares, where information about the companies of that city that are listed on the ISE, including stock transaction data, graphs, news, introductory films, etc. as well as introductory information about the companies of the same city that are in public offering process will be continually displayed on visual electronic boards.
